Creative LIVE HDDSLR Workshop Part Deux!
translation services
I’m incredibly stoked to be be teaching another online creativeLIVE HDDSLR workshop in less than two weeks!
The free workshop will stream live over the internet on March 4th, 5th and 6th (If you can’t make it to your computer during that time, creativeLIVE will give you the option to purchase the course to keep as part of your permanent collection – you can sign up to get a discounted price on the course prior to 6 p.m. on March 7).

Our first workshop last spring, “An introduction to HDDSLR Cinema,” was a sort of 101-style class that discussed gear and basic cinematic techniques, and this upcoming workshop will build upon that foundation. We’ll see some of the new gear that’s come out since then of course – including a set of custom rigs that I’ve put together over the last year for all different types of filmmakers, budgets, and shooting scenarios.
A detailed course schedule will go up live on this site – one week from today.
Make sure to follow both @creativeLIVE & @vincentlaforet for the upcoming two weeks to get updated information on the workshop & to get more details on how you can win some pretty fantastic gear & software giveaways from: Adobe (CS5 Suite Premium!) Apple, Schneider, B&H, Kessler Crane, Cinevate, Redrock Micro and more…. The gear giveaways alone are well worth following us on Twitter!
WANT TO BE THERE IN PERSON IN SEATTLE?
If you’d like to be one of the lucky 6 participants you’ll need to submit your own video:
1. Record a 60-second video saying why you want to join me in Seattle. (Hint: I’ll be looking for videos that are original…witty…fun…photographers making the transition from stills to video are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED)
2. Post it to Vimeo or YouTube
3. Tweet the URL for that Video on Twitter and include @creativeLIVE and the hashtag #laforetLIVE
Deadline: Friday, Feb 25th. Be prepared to make quick flight arrangements if you are picked!
Below is a link to LAST YEAR’S WORKSHOP – which serves as a foundation of sorts to the upcoming workshop.
….At 0:31 on the video a ‘thing’ flies past your head!
I am assuming that if we are picked we will be responsible for the costs of getting to Seattle, correct?

Yes – correct.
Looking forward to representing the “interwebs” as one of your creativeLIVE chat hosts again! This time I probably won’t be wearing fishnets and red stilettos…. : )
Cheers,
Kenna, a.k.a. “Legs”
Vincent,
You dog you 🙂 I was so excited ( since I am from seattle) I put my video together based on the creativelive live description before your promo video came out 🙁 Here is the description on that site. You may want to tweak it a little more to be more reflective of what you said in the video.
1. Record a 60-second video saying why you want to join Vincent in Seattle. (You will see how I interpreted that before the promo video I thought it was more like a demo of some stuff you have done).
2. Post it to YouTube, Vimeo, etc.
3. Tweet the URL for that Video on Twitter and include @creativeLIVE and the hashtag #laforetLIVE
Here is the video I recorded. http://vimeo.com/20191082
I guess I should try again then–I really would like to attend so let me know if I should give it another go.
Thanks,
John
I totally recognized Magic Mountain. So funny, that roller coaster you’re on I can see is built next to around around “Colossus” which, when it first opened up in the 70s was like the biggest roller coaster on the west coast I think. (I remember hearing about it when I was in the 4th grade.) lt’s child’s play compared to what they’re building nowadays!
Anyway, looking forward to seeing your next seminar.
Unfortunately, will be celebrating my 43rd b-day with my wife in Vegas that weekend. So, will probably purchase the course instead. In any case, looking forward to it! One quick question. I just purchased my first HD capable dSLR. With regards to tripods and mounts, can HDdSLR-specific sticks/mounts also be used for still photography as well as video? And, for basic, entry level HDdSLR shooting, would the Manfrotto 055XDB Tripod (Black) with 501HDV Head Kit at B&H be a good starter kit? Would most likely be shooting with a 24-70mm f/2.8G lens. Thank you in advance for your input!
Any UK tours planned?
Just found out about the contest… is it too late to video and tweet for the hopes of joining?
