Atlanta Overflow Workshop Part Deux – it’s happening.
I’ve gotten e-mails from 4 people asking if it would be possible to do a second hands on workshop with the Canon 5D MKII in Atlanta on the first week of October.
Apparently there are 5 people on the waiting list with Canon as well.
If we can get over 8 people together to commit to the workshop – I can do another one on October 6th as I am staying in Atlanta that week due to other commitments.
Please post below if you are interested – the workshop would last all day on the 6th. Don’t forget to include your e-mail in your post so that I could contact you directly. The workshop would be just a little bit more expensive than the $300 that Canon charges as I would need to factor in the location/model/assistant costs. If someone has a studio that they’d like to donate – then that would take care of most of that – I would offer free attendance of course in return for up to 2 people to that person. I think the workshop would end up in the $350-$500 range for the day depending on the expenses. Please let me know.
Here is a description of what we will be doing:
I’ll be demonstrating the 5D MKII’s video capabilities and some of the most popular accessories to help in the production of narrative pieces.
We’ll cover core skills from producing, directing, lighting and audio – to camera operation and editing. We’ll shoot in the morning and during the afternoon we’ll edit, and eventually grade the piece (color correct) in FCP’s Color software – and talk about output as well. Basically – almost everything that I know and that I can pack into one day.
UPDATE: THE WORKSHOP IS HAPPENING! THE FIRST FOURTEEN (14) PEOPLE TO RESPOND IN THE COMMENTS BELOW WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE CONFIRMED – I’ll Keep 2 people in a waiting list if we get that far.
Will attend.
I’ll be there.

@Twesh, Only you can decide that my friend. I can easily say that the material you will be introduced to would far outway the cost of doing it separately in different workshops.

Hi Vincent ~ I’d be willing to donate the use of my studio for the day as needed. I can easily accomodate up to 20 participants comfortably. Maybe 30, but that would be a bit tight. I’m located in Atlanta proper, on the west side. If you are interested, please email me at matt@150atlanta.com.
I would attend I’m in Jacksonville Fl would prefer closer to the $350 🙂
Thanks,

@Bob Dallavia, Bob- CONFIRMED – spot 9 of 14 – but until I get costs down I can’t guarantee it will be $350 – I can guarantee that it will be $500 or under.
I would love to attend, but unfortunately the cost is prohibitive.
Sounds like you’ll still get a great turnout anyway. Be sure to post updates after the event.
I’d love to come! Let me know the details.
All the best,
Richard

Hey Vincent . . . .looks like things filled up pretty fast. I am Dan Segal’s friend from Atlanta. I can offer up my office/ loft for the workshop as well if you haven’t landed somewhere else. I would love to attend the workshop either way. My office location is West Midtown in the creative hub of Atlanta. Please let me know if there is any room left, and whether or not you still need a host venue? Best, Mark

@Kolla, I will see what I can do.
I Just wanted to officially confirm that the workshop is on. I had to keep my assistant Mike in town and cover his expenses and flight changes – and hire a few other people. Thanks to Chris Stanford’s generosity in letting us use his studio – I am able to keep the price down – the workshop will be $425 for the day. I have gone ahead and sent the first 14 people a PayPal invoice. Please respond to it within 72 hours – or let me know if you can no longer make it as there are a few eager people on the waiting list. If you have any issues with Paypal – pls let me know as well or post here and I will contact you directly via e-mail. THANK YOU ALL for helping make this happen.
will be there.
Hi Vincent. I’d like to come if you happen to have an extra spot. Please let me know. Thanks.

@Carl Ettinger, Parking will be an issue if everyone comes alone in their own vehicle. Parking is available in designated areas along the street in the surrounding block though.
Alternate parking locations (relative to the studio):
*Walker Street, to the west of the Walker/Fair intersection
*Fair Street, to the south of the Fair/Walker intersection (south side of road)
*Stonewall Street, 1/2 block east of studio
*Walker Street, to the east of the studio (south side of the road, near No Mas & Wasabi)
*Paid lot 1/2 block south of Fair/Walker intersection
*Peters Street (1 block south of studio)
