Job Applications Closed

Just wanted to thank EVERYONE for applying for the series of jobs posted on this blog a little over a week ago.    We’ve gotten a windfall of 200+ applications.   That in turn means it’s going to be a few weeks until I can start to get back to people as there’s a tremendous amount of material to go through.   I’ve already narrowed down position #1 to a few people and contacted them, as that trip will be starting shortly.    I’d like to thank everyone for the incredible level of work submitted and the time and effort put into the applications.

Given the high number of applicants you should not expect to hear from me for close to 3-4 weeks from now for position 2, 3 &4 – even if you’re amongst the top percentage – as I want to get a chance to review everyone’s work first.  So I would ask that you not send me any e-mails for now asking on a status update, as I won’t have much to share until the review process is complete.

Sincerely –

Vincent

Did you like Reverie? Want to learn from the man behind the edit?

Besides the fact that Andre Costantini is an incredible talent behind the camera … he’s also an incredible teacher.    And I give him complete credit for editing “Reverie” into what it eventually became.   Beyond being a great friend, he’s someone that has a lot share.   So if you’d like to learn from him – check out the following series of workshops. I personally wouldn’t hesitate to go there myself.

Ground Zero, May 2, 2011

I happened to land in New York City from Los Angeles on May 1, 2011.   Here are a few images from the scene in the very early hours of the next morning at Ground Zero after it was announced that Osama Bin Laden had been killed in Pakistan by US Special Forces.    You’ll notice the Freedom Tower being built in the background (right) – too tired to do a real edit so here’s a selection.   I shot a lot of frames but the ones that I gravitate towards are the ones with Ground Zero in the background.   I  Remember very similar scenes back in 2001 when I was covering events in Islamabad and Quetta Pakistan as a staff photographer for The New York Times – very different circumstances to say the least.   Hard to believe almost a decade has gone by.   I’ve seldom seen so many people united and perhaps even… relieved.
