Everything is a Remix Ep. 4
The "Everything is a Remix" series by Kirby Ferguson is absolutely fantastic. Over the course of its four episodes it details the evolution of ideas and stories, and how they are all interwoven into a complex tapestry that gives us the many archetypes, cliches, and signifiers that we have today in entertainment. I have featured the past three episodes (click HERE) on this blog, and today I am sharing the final installment with you. This episode centers on the current legal, economic, and social systems in place that prevent the copying and transforming of intellectual property into new, more highly evolved ideas and concepts.
Vincent has served us all well. As film makers he showed us what the 5D Mk11 could do. He shared his developments and tricks of the trade. He introduced Kirby. Kirby you have our attention. A ginormous thank you Kirby and Vincent
Copyright isn’t natural, copying is.
@Barney greenwood, 5D Mk11? I know they had the Mark 3 but dang, I want the 11. 🙂
Very interesting documentary, which raises a lot of questions. Sharing and open our propriety to everyone is the only feasible future, but even if we know this sometimes it’s not easy to let go of “our” creations (music, footage, software, ideas etc.). We are afraid of loosing, but we are not afraid of not giving. If Internet teaches us anything it’s that by sharing, in the long term, we will also receive a lot back (ex: blogs, wikipedia, open source software etc). Thanks for sharing!
