Words of Advice from a Master: Ridley Scott
Ridley Scott has filmed quite a few of my favorite films – namely what is very likely my favorite film: Blade Runner. His background in art direction, his eye and its palette for color and light are exquisite: Black Hawk Down is a perfect example of that. Here are two videos I found on a tumblr account I check out daily that I thought I would share:
On Breaking in and apprenticeship:
On Filmmaking:
Hey Ridley if one of your people ever read this… I’d love to sit and talk filmmaking with you one day. (Hey it never hurts to try! 😉 )
If you are hungry for more great advice – check out this series on another one of my favorite directors (and films Brazil) Terry Gilliam on Mentorless.

Good post. The opportunities for folks to break into the entertainment industry have never been better. Technology has leveled the playing field in ways that were unthinkable just a few short years ago and studios are no longer the gate keepers that they used to be.
Great content, thanks for posting.
I couldn’t believe my ears when he described Thelma and Louise as “Two bitches in a car”!
When your first feature stars Harvey Keitel… you’re doin’ ok
