The Educational Page
I recently returned from a 10-week, 32 city tour around the country presenting a workshop with MZED entitled "Directing Motion". To date, this is the most comprehensive educational resource I have created. The workshop was targeted at Directors and DPs looking to learn more about what makes camera work in movies so compelling: motion. You can learn more from the video and excerpt below, and you can visit the website HERE.
"One of the most important skills modern directors and DP’s are required to master is moving the camera in a dynamic and engaging way. This workshop will teach all levels of filmmakers the precise cinematic language of motion, and how to move not only the camera itself, but also content in front of the camera. You will step away from this experience with a solid foundation in camera movement, blocking, lensing, and sequencing, and be able to direct any crew precisely and effectively to execute your vision. By understanding these principles thoroughly, you will add impact to your projects, from commercials through to webisodes, features, shorts, events, or documentaries."

I have been planning on creating this resource for a long while. Over the past few years on this blog, I have made hundreds of posts, some of which are my opinions, some which are just for fun, and many which I tried to offering something beneficial – tech tips, behind the scenes, tutorials, gear reviews, and more – always aimed at sharing what I have learned on my journey in the world of photography and filmmaking. However, it can be hard to scroll through all the pages on this blog to find the educational content amidst all of the other posts, and so I thought I would do my best to compile it all here. Below you will find two pages – one for photography, and another for filmmaking. I must say that the Photography Section is much leaner than the Filmmaking Section, as this blog has really only started to evolve as I have delved deeper into the video world. However, its my hope that no matter which you are pursuing, you will find something to gleam from this collection of content that I have compiled over the years.

I really want to buy a Black Magic Camera. I want to start shooting industrial videos and indie films. I understand cinematography, but how will I be able to learn how to master the technology of the camera?
Are there classes or books on how to use it.
I think the camera is fantastic.

Good Link Johnny-Boy (although I would talk to your sub-editor about the cheesy post title). Heres hnpiog Mr Lasseter can bring about a sea-change at Disney and stop their trajectory into direct-to-DVD obscurity. (I guess the chances of their now being a ‘Lion King VI’ are pretty slim…)
