Behind The Scenes: Final Chapter
Here is a great behind the scenes video from Vimeo of the final chapter for the “Beyond The Still” contest that we shot towards the end of 2010. We just wrapped up the final mix and titles a few days ago and we’ll be premiering the final chapter, along with all 7 other chapters, at Sundance this coming Sunday. I look forward to sharing the final film with you this Sunday along with another behind the scenes video that we made in-house.

When is your screening? Is it a private screening? I’ll be at Sundance but am leaving Sunday afternoon. If it is a morning screening I’d love to check it out if possible!

I am so excited to be able to see the FINAL chapter soon. I really hope that something like this will be repeated and accessible to all the creative people out there. We all share one internet and still the contest was only for a small group of people )-:
Congrats to everybody who participated.

Like many fans of Vimeo I’ve been watching these chapters since you launched the first some time ago. There have been some truly great pieces of work submitted. The short lists have been to such a good standard never mind the winning chapters.
As a newbie in this domain I just am continouesly blown away on the production quality and story telling capabilities of these young film-makers produce.
Wish I was at Sundance now!

Vince,
Thanks for this behind the scenes look! I hope it’s not too much of an aside but I was wondering who composed the score in this video? Great song! Tried to Shazaam it (no luck) and no info. given at the end of the video.

Hi Vincent,
I followed the entire series of films and love how they resolved. “Miracle” was a real turning point IMHO – just really great stuff.
The production quality of your piece is excellent – the 5d really shines here – I should say, you and your crew really shine.. Did you shoot everything 160 ISO? Did you use a custom flat color profile?
I’m just a one man shop right now doing some projects, maybe one day I’ll have the ability to sculpt more with various lighting rigs…

We shot almost everything at 160 ASA – with 2-3 scenes at 320 because we were in a rush – and the opening shot is at 1250 ASA – all multiples of 160. As far as settings: Contrast down 2, Saturation down 2, and sharpness all the way down – starting off a “neutral” profile – that’s it! Pretty straightforward. I don’t mess w/ curves – far too dangerous for me and I’ve learned to get a pretty good digital “negative” with these cameras over the years…
