As some of you may remember - I made a comment earlier this year that 2010 would see some incredible products being released in the HDDSLR realm.
NAB 2010 kicks off tomorrow - and you should expect some pretty fantastic announcements from a wide variety of companies. I know of quite a few - but am sworn to secrecy for at least another 12 hours or so.
For those of you who could not make it out to the city of sin for this conference - know that a lot of the buzz here surrounds the HD DSLR and “convergence” worlds. Very exciting times. I can’t wait to share a lot of what I know with you very shortly. Zeiss, RedRock Micro, Lite Panels, Marshall Electronics, Canon and many many more have some very exciting announcements.
UPDATE: Click here for an update.
Looking forward to it! I’ve got some projects this year shooting video with DSLR’s…exciting times for lower budget projects!

Pingback by NAB Show 2010 - Neuheiten aus dem Bereich HDDSLR | BlogTimes - Fotografieblog 04.13.10 @ 1:48 amHey everyone - NAB this year is a bit mind blowing w/ the influx of HDDSLR rigs/gizmos. Had planned to post on what I saw today - but my day started at 7 a.m and is ending at 2:35 a.m. right now following a great Charity Poker tournament. Fantastic times to be a part of this. When I get some time - I will write about what I have been seeing and my interpretation of it as best I can. v

@Vincent Laforet, I’d love to hear a quote from a redrock person on their reason for increasing prices, and why so much.
Who cares about video. We need a Canon 24-70 IS!!!
Or maybe a F/2 ZOOM!!! 300 mm micro would be mind blowing!? And you say HD video… ANATOLY

I always have problems with my iPhone around my audio equipment. I always get a buzzing interference and have to turn off my phone during recording. Not sure if I want to use a iPhone follow focus if I still get this problem.

Ciao Vincent! I liked the way you concluded your presentation today with the horn’s sound ![]()
I was really impressed by the video-reel at Canon’s HD theater, finally I could appreciate a 2K screening of HDdslr footage. It has been nice talking with you in person and I hope you will find time for some workshops in LA area too, you know Dubai it was not around the corner. Ciao!

cool. but would be even cooler if it didn’t need the motor - all these lenses already have motors - why don’t we interface directly with them? understand that it needs to use the external motor for film style lenses, but c’mon - DSLR - DSLR lenses…

@zulusafari, FYI redrock is one of the most affordable cinema support and accessory manufacturers out there. If you can make identical stuff that’s 33% cheaper than theirs, still make a profit, stay in business and still turn out revolutionary products, then by all means go for it. If not… Don’t gripe.

@Trevor Meeks, I agree, they are by far the most affordable. Just still over my head
And I’m not griping, it’s just a request.
They actually hand make everything in the USA, custom order. I’m quite interested in why a larger, more established company hasn’t already created a similar product line in a more streamlined manufacturing process. Made in Asia, en mass. Not built to order.

@zulusafari, the cost of cinema accessories is something I struggled with as well when I began to move into the filmmaking world. Just hang in there, keep saving, keep working with whatever you’ve got! The RRM Wireless FF will be more affordable than you might think…
Enjoy!

@Trevor Meeks,
It cost a lot of money to get those molds up and a huge order to get it made and shipped from Asia. Add that to the fact that eventhough you and I are looking for these products the market is only so big.

@Trevor Meeks, HOLY CRAP they just went up on their prices, and not just a little bit! DANG! Definitely out of my price range now. I was seriously considering spending around $1000 with them, but the same stuff would cost me around $1500 now. I emailed back and forth with them a few times a few weeks ago and they didn’t seem like a company that was very customer friendly. Would have been nice to inform me they were going to increase their prices for NAB. I did notice the prices are the old prices on B&H.

@zulusafari, well, you save a bit buying from B&H anyway. Perhaps you can still find what you want from them. Good luck.
As far as RRM not being customer friendly - I have done lots of business with them and whenever I’ve had a question about an order or parts etc. they’re quick to respond and great to deal with.

@zulusafari, they are out of mine as well. Here are a couple of alternatives I have found. I have made a choice yet.
