Took me awhile… but: tweet tweet…

It took me long enough… but I’m Tweeting now…

My username is @vincentlaforet (yes…spent a lot of time thinking of that one…)

Some of you may know that I SWORE that I would never tweet… then I realized it could actually be pretty cool.

This blog is great - but I don’t post as often as I’d like to.   Facebook - is a disaster.  I never have time to check it (truth be told, I have over 900 friend requests - problem is:  every time I accept one friend - I get 12 suggestions - and it takes forever to go down the list… does anyone know how to “accept all?” As silly as that excuse is - that’s pretty much why I ran away from Facebook close to 9 months ago…)

OK - so here goes something else.   For the record:  I resisted blogging at first as well.  As much of an “early adopter” that I am in terms of cameras and new technology (I should have named my kids Beta and NDA given how often I hear those words!)   I’ve always resisted ’social’ internet trends for some reason…

That being said - I’ve been enjoying reading many of the tweets of those I follow (see my twitter page for a list of people that I’m following) and a few friends finally got me to take the plunge.

If anything - tweeting may allow me to be a bit more liberal about what I share… NDA’s don’t really exist in the twitter sphere do they?  ;)

Pls post your twitter addresses in the comments below - always looking for cool people/things to follow!

There’s definitely a place for twitter though it needs to exist within longer form media like a blog. I’m still trying to figure out what that balance is. But Twitters eas and immediacy can be a great benefit, especially when you have a lot of people following you. For the “I need a 15mm Cosina Voigltander lens for a Leica mount, does anybody near 17th and Tasker have one I can borrow, RIGHT NOW?” it’s great.

When you get friend requests, you can ignore the “friend suggestions”. That is simply something Facebook added to help more people connect with others, etc. But all it is a suggestion..so if you had just accepted all those friend requests you would have been good.

Also, isn’t it ironic that you don’t have time for Facebook..but now have joined Tweeter? ;-)

I don’t use Tweeter..but i can definately see it as a potentially time-consuming activity.

Hi, once again to “Nocturne” and the rolling shutter of the Canon 1D MkIV: I had the opportunity to test the 1D MkIV and to my mind the rolling shutter effect was quite bad.As bad as the 7D, worse than the 5D MkII and much more worse than the RED camera. Did you do any rolling shutter postproduction (I dont believe that there is a postproduction possibility)? In “Nocturne” vertical lines look so straight! I dont understand the difference between your film and my test (which had not been allowed to be recorded).
Cheers,
Oliver

Vincent Laforet Reply:

@Oliver, I think the rolling shutter is by far the best of all 3 cameras - getting very acceptable for a CMOS sensor… Stu seemed to agree with me.

Welcome aboard! Depending on how you use it and how many interesting people you follow, Twitter is an interesting place, but it can be overwhelmingly saturated with useless #hashtags like #FF (follow friday) RTs (retweets).
Anyways, again, welcome… I am @gallarotti and I curate the online photography magazine @greenteagallery

Eric Ferguson Reply:

@Francesco Gallarotti, I wouldn’t say “useless” afterall ReTweet just became an offical twitter feature a few days ago, now represented by an icon and associated API support. It’s interesting to see how the medium changes itself, over time.
